At the Groot Ammers-based facility, which is just a 30-minute drive from Rotterdam, the new flagship has moved to the final construction stage and is due to be delivered this July

The hull has already been painted Porsche rhodium silver with contrasting orange and blue lines at the waterline, while the superstructure is pearl white. The yard reports that after the completion the Zeelander 8 will head for Côte d'Azur and “start a new life on the French Riviera”.

The first Zeelander 8 can boast an open saloon on the main deck with a lounge and dining areas, and a helm station, which in addition to the total clarity of view through a mullion-free windscreen will feature hand-stitched double leather seating.

In the nearest future, after the hull and the deck are united, the boat will enter the outfitting stage.

There are three cabins for up to six guests and a full-beam master suite below deck. Two more cabins are provided for a crew of three.

The tender garage on the port side is spacious enough to accommodate not only Williams 395 Sportjet, but water toys, too.

With four Volvo Penta D13 IPS 1200 engines, the yacht can reach a top speed of 35-37 knots, and a cruising speed of 29 knots. There is a more powerful option of Volvo Penta D13 IPS 1350 engines, which will deliver a top speed of 40 knots.

With a fuel capacity of 8000 litres the range is 1050 nautical miles at seven knots, and up to 455 nautical miles at 26 knots – according to the data from the shipyard for more powerful optional engines.

“We are so proud of the Zeelander 8 project,” says Zeelander founder Sietse Koopmans. “Born of a loyal client’s desire for a bigger yacht, the Zeelander 8 succeeds in perpetuating the famous Zeelander aesthetic while hugely increasing interior volumes. And all that without compromising performance. This yacht will be able to reach 40 knots across the Golfe de la Napoule, while our obsessive use of advanced soundproofing means that you will always be able to hold a normal conversation – even at full throttle”.
