The yacht with a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure was built to a design by Gregory C Marshall
The unusual ‘tropical’ design of the interior (491 GT) was created by British Design Unlimited studio. Bamboo ceilings, strawmats and textured timbers create a feeling of being at an ocean-side hut, which is reinforced by graphic wallpapers from Adam Ellis Studio in guest cabins. At the same time the designers managed to fit modern furniture into this rave of colour and textures very skillfully.
“Her extraordinary design stems from the owner’s spirit and passion for adventure and we have worked closely together to bring to life her unique story which unfurls as you step aboard,” explained Mark Tucker, Creative Director of Design Unlimited.
The deck houses the owner’s stateroom, as well as a private saloon. Since the owner adores cooking, there is an outdoor built-in teppanyaki grill and al fresco lounge area on the bridgedeck aft. On the owner’s request, there is a well-appointed galley and an open breakfast bar.
Each of the four guest cabins below deck features a different theme. Initially there was a gym, but the owner decided to change it with cabins to make the boat more appealing as a charter yacht. There are also crew quarters for a crew up to eight.
The yacht has numerous standout features, as the owner had a clear idea of what they wanted. In addition to cooking, there is enough space for storing their favourite tenders and water toys, as well as a 10-ton crane for launching them. Another detail worth mentioning is a Jacuzzi bath with dual temperature zones, as the owner wanted part of it to be cold, and the other one hot, which they managed to realize.
Another idea of his was to create a a crow’s nest with 360-degree views at the very top of the yacht. She is capable of long cruises at 12 knots, and, if necessary, can reach a top speed of 14.5 knots.
When the owner doesn’t have an opportunity to spend time with the family on board, King Benji will be available for charter.
