As a natural evolution of the popular Numarine 37XP, the larger 40MXP stands out for a dramatically reconfigured stern with a focus on outdoor living
The MXP stands for a Mediterranean Explorer, and these yachts are meant to embody the idea of a beach lifestyle. The Mitan is positioned as a “home on the water”, while her optimised hull and increased range allow the owner to use the vessel not only as a floating residence, but for transatlantic voyages, too.
The yacht’s muscular yet expressive exterior is owed to Can Yalman, while her naval architecture was developed by Umberto Tagliavini.
The steel hull with a length of 39.42 m and a beam of 8.02 m and a composite superstructure is fitted with twin diesel MAN engines of 800 hp, which can deliver a top speed of up to 14 knots. The cruising speed is 12 knots, and in the economy mode of 8 knots the range is 6,000 nautical miles, which is more than enough for crossing the Atlantic. As an option, more powerful 900 hp engines are available, too.
The 40MXP’s character is largely defined by her stern, which is three-lvel: there is a dining tier at the top, a lounge with a pool in the middle, and a swim platform at water level fitted with an Opacmare transformer opening right to the sea. As the yard’s press release puts it, “the distance between the dinner table and a swim is measured in only a few steps”.
There are two pools on board (one aft and one on the second deck), but one can also enjoy sunbathing forward and on the flybridge. Depending on the weather, one can also have a meal in different parts of the vessel: an enclosed saloon, in the cockpit, a spacious terrace on the second deck or on the flybridge shaded by the hard top.
The Mitan can carry a 9.7-metre tender, a dinghy, two waverunners, two Seabobs and two kayaks, which can be stored on the upper deck fitted with a crane that can handle up to three tonnes.
The superyacht can accommodate up to 12 guests. The full-beam master suite is located on the main deck, while four more guest cabins are below deck. There is one more cabin that can serve as an office, a playroom or a children’s room depending on who is on board and where the vessel is heading.
After the multi-mile crossing and her debut at the Palm Beach Show, the Mitan will spend seven to eight months cruising south towards Mexico, with numerous anchorages along the way, which is a route worthy of a luxury explorer superyacht.
