The competition will be held in the Gulf of Finland, on the basis of modern Smolenka yacht port. The goal of the project is to promote high-quality amateur yachting and foster interest in sailing in the Northern Capital
The series regulations pay special attention to the balance within the crews: the rules limit the number of professional yachtsmen on board to three, while the helmsman must be an amateur. This approach maintains high competition and gives beginners an opportunity to learn from experienced sailors in real racing conditions. One can participate in the regatta as a team or individually, and in this case the organizers will suggest that the participant should join a combined crew with an experienced skipper.
The races are held for international class J/70 keelboats that are popular with yachtsmen due to their speed, manoeuvrability and ease of handling. The Summer Cup 2026 will consist of four stages that will take place on May 22–24, July 3–5, July 31 – August 2 and September 4–6.
Every stage includes two racing as a result of which awards are given to the top three teams. The best crew at the end of the season will receive a Challenge Cup and gifts from the event's partners.
