The designers’ main goal was to present their vision of a modern custom superyacht under 500 GT, but featuring a number of innovative solutions
Lukasz Opalinski, designer and founder of Opalinski Design House, shares that he created the concept after talking to yacht brokers, who believed that there was a large demand for original 50-metre custom yachts with an internal volume under 500 GT.
He started with a low, sporty profile with a high, inverted bow and a signature “wave” of glazing. Thanks to the superstructure that has been brought aft, a massive bow section and expansive open spaces aft, the superyacht hides her ample dimensions smartly behind the sporty look, and at the same time offers vast exterior lounging areas.
For instance, there is a spacious area with convertible sunpads around the pool and a C-shaped sofa with a table on the foredeck. It looks as if it makes up for rather a compact sundeck with a dining area and lounges.
But the concept’s main highlight is definitely the exterior aft section that the designers have reconsidered. Instead of the already conventional fold-down bulwarks they have equipped it with a special mechanism that extends it laterally at anchor.
Thanks to the built-in electric motors and the wings that “fan out”, the swim platform gets a luxurious beach club with sun loungers, sunpads, a jacuzzi and a lounge.
With a length of 49.9 m, the concept’s beam is 9 m, and the draft is 2.2 m. The side tender garage is located forward to free more space for the beach club.
Despite the fact that the designers have obviously preferred to focus on exterior areas, the concept has some interior spots for all the guests to get together and six cabins. In addition to the bedroom, the owner’s suite on the bridge deck features an office, a bathroom, a dressing room and access to the private deck aft. The rest of the guest cabins are most likely to be located below deck.
The superyacht’s top speed is expected to be around 16 knots, and the range will be about 4500 nautical miles.
