The original concept of the Gladius 52 Crossover Performance Yacht was first presented by British Sturge & Toth back in 2024
The vessel with a steel displacement hull and an aluminium superstructure combines both explorer and luxury superyacht features. Thus, the versatile aft section of the main deck can be used for storing a tender, as a touch-and-go helipad or as an exterior lounge. There is a beach club below it, and the cutouts in the bulwarks provide great views and are, at the same time, a recognizable feature of the exterior.
Thanks to the optimised hull and maximized fuel tanks, the Gladius 52 will boast high performance and impressive autonomy: the provisional top speed will reach 16 knots, and at a cruising speed of 8-10 knots the range will be 5,800 nautical miles.
With a length of 52 m and a beam of 8.7 m, the yacht’s internal volume is under 499 GT, which makes the operational hassle easier and is at the same time large enough for accommodating up to 14 guests.
Sturge & Toth designers have revealed what the Gladius 52 will look like inside. As they see it, the renderings will help potential owners to get to know the project at an early stage and personalise the key design aspects, benefiting from the high degree of flexibility offered within the platform.
The interior concept is based on a relaxed "barefoot philosophy" designed to create a homely and welcoming atmosphere throughout the vessel. The focus is on airiness and “spatial fluidity”: large expanses of glazing and vast sliding doors blur the line between the exterior and interior and fill the spaces with natural light.
Soft neutral palettes, textured natural materials and layered finishes make the spaces feel exquisite yet cosy. The finishing materials including fabrics, woods and stones demonstrate an excellent taste and are both durable and pleasant to touch.
There are seven guest cabins: a master suite with a private terrace, four VIP cabins and two regular cabins. The social spaces including a generous main saloon with a dining area, a lounge on the bridge deck and a sundeck with a jacuzzi, a bar and a dining area are all well-thought-out and are meant to facilitate communication and relaxation. Another highlight of the vessel is the crow’s nest, which is an observation deck with a sunpad next to the radar mast at the height of 11 m above the sea level, offering amazing panoramic views.
According to the co-founders of Sturge & Toth, Toby Sturge and Ben Julian Toth, “Gladius 52 was designed as a crossover performance yacht with strong explorer genes, and an interior layout that feels effortless to live in. Every element was crafted to create an atmosphere that is calm, grounded and emotionally warm, a space where owners and guests feel immediately at ease".
