Both the shipyard’s experts and the future owner of the first Aviator 12К took part in the tirals
Prior to the trials, the aluminium hulls of the catamaran were filled with ballast to imitate the weight of the superstructure, equipment and full load. After the unit hit the water, the yard’s experts as well as the future owner of the catamaran, who wanted to take part in the trials, boarded the vessel.
According to Alexander Galkin, co-owner of Aviator shipyard, despite the fact that during the trials the catamaran was “highly overloaded”, it “did not only meet, but exceeded all expectations”. Equipped with two outboard Suzuki engines of 325 hp, the 12К could reach planing fast and delivered a top speed of 69 km/h, while the preliminary expectations were just 65 km/h.
In the course of the trials the unit demonstrated stability and predictability both on course and when maneuvering at different speeds.
The first 12K will soon enter the outfitting stage, including all the engineering communicsations and equipment, as well as the construction of the superstructure. According to the schedule, the catamaran will be completely ready and delivered to the owner in the summer of 2025.
The 12 К catamaran by Aviator has a length of 12.3 m, and a beam of 4.50 м. The exterior, interior and naval architecture were all created inhouse.
The main deck is home to a spacious saloon with a helm station, a dining area and a galley. The aft cockpit and the foredeck offer exterior lounging areas. There are three double cabins and two heads below deck.
Last year the shipyard from Samara unveiled the entry model in the range of 10K catamarans both with a hard top and a flybridge, and ilodka.com told you about them in “Aviator 10К: a catamaran that can fly”, “Aviator shipyard announces launch and delivery of second 10K catamaran”, and “First Aviator 10K flybridge catamaran video published”.
