The Zeelander 8 exterior was created in collaboration with Cor D. Rover Design, the naval architecture was crafted by Sea Level – Amsterdam, and the interior design was developed in-house
We have already reported about the start of the largest Zeelander yacht construction. The first Zeelander 8 unit is being built for a particular customer, and the delivery is planned for the summer of 2024.
With a beam of 6.6 m the interior areas on board feature really good space and volume. The shipyard opted for a maximally open saloon and united a few different zones visually. The entire space of the main deck can be seen through: there is a U-shaped lounge on the port side, followed by a dining area, and a stylish galley opposite, stretched along the starboard side. The helm station is separated with a glass panel and is moved slightly to port, to allow more space for the way down to the lower deck.
Thanks to the panoramic glazing, the sunroof that allows natural light to flood in and mainly light finish materials, the saloon looks airy and light. Grey linen upholstery and cream leather contrast with the furniture of dark ebony. Every strip and panel of the wood is actually high-pressure laminate that is impossible to tell from natural wood visually, but is easy to replace in case of wear or damage.
In the cockpit there is a bar with chairs and a lounge area with a sofa and a coffee table, which can also be used as a beach club, when the large transom platform opens and turns into a bathing one.
There are three cabins for six guests below deck and two for a crew of three. The full-beam master apartment features an elegant bathroom that can be enclosed with a glass partition, a small office and lots of stowage space. There are two more cabins with queen-size beds and ensuite bathrooms on both sides of the hallway.
The side tender garage separates the master stateroom from the engine room. Apart from Williams 395 Sportjet, it can also accommodate a couple of seabobs or other water toys.
With quad Volvo Penta D13 IPS 1200 engines the yacht will boast a top speed of 35-37 knots, and a cruising speed of 29 knots. There is a more powerful option of Volvo Penta D13 IPS 1350 engines, which will add another three knots.
With a fuel capacity of 8000 litres the range is 1050 nautical miles at seven knots, and up to 455 nautical miles at 26 knots for more powerful engines.
“Timeless yet contemporary; elegant but restrained, the interior of the new Zeelander 8 is the ultimate expression of sophistication,” says Zeelander founder Sietse Koopmans. “At 24m length overall, she is a large yacht, naturally offering greater volumes and possibilities than her smaller sisters. And yet, the yacht is every inch a Zeelander, displaying all the hallmarks that have made the brand the object of such desire among owners worldwide.”
