Tykun (part of the MED Group) is primarily known as a supertender builder, but with the new Tykun XII model, the boatbuilders decided to offer something more
Unlike a superyacht tender, the flagship Tykun XII can be used as a larger, multifunctional support vessel or as an independent weekender.
The fact that this type of versatility is in demand was proved by the MED Group a year ago, when it unveiled the Tykun X at the Monaco Yacht Show 2025. The audience loved the aluminium hull, carbon hardtop, flexible layouts, numerous customization opportunities and excellent seaworthiness along with Tommaso Spadolini’s design, so the new flagship, Tykun XII, features it all, too.
The new model’s length of 12.7 m and the beam of 3.5 m allowed for more space for different areas. The first Tykun XII, which is already in build, will be unveiled in the Open configuration, but there is also a Closed version, which will prolong the season and allow for operation in colder climates.
Regardless of the version, the owners of the Tykun XII will get a central two-seat helm station, a bar under a hardtop and a transformable dining / sunbathing area aft. The bow section can accommodate either a sunpad or a seating area with a table. What is unusual for a boat of this size is the fold-down bulwarks, which increase the lounging area aft.
The interior spaces may come in a few configurations, too: there can either be a master cabin with a double bed or a saloon with a V-shaped sofa and a table that can be transformed into a bed. The yard has thought about providing enough space for storing sport equipment and essentials for weekend cruises.
The experience working with specialised military and rescue vessels allowed the MED Group to create a reliable hull with a stepped design capable of efficient operation at different speeds, while the raised bow profile ensures comfortable navigation even in challenging weather.
The Tykun XII can be fitted with twin outboard engines ranging from 400 to 600 hp. The latter can deliver a top speed of over 50 knots. Two fuel tanks of 600 L each, as well as water capacity of 300 L allow for long-range crossings and cruises.
“The TYKUN XII takes the same mindset as the TYKUN X and applies it to a vessel that not only offers proven high performance, manoeuvrability, reliability and safety, but also enables longer stays on board, greater range, and extended cruising seasons, particularly in the Closed version,” says Marco Galimberti, CEO of MED Group. “In addition, we can accommodate extensive customisation requests, including potentially to the hull, as building in aluminium means we are not confined to a mould. However, with a large number of layout options and a comprehensive equipment specification included as standard, the TYKUN XII is also offered as a turnkey solution for owners who want a simplified build process.”
The first TYKUN XII in the Open version will be officially unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show 2026 in autumn.
